WARRI: Suspected cable thief escapes with injuries after lynching in Delta

A suspected cable thief, Tamaria  today escaped with serious injuries with after he was lynched and confessed to have stolen armoured cable at the residence of one Chief Butler Magege in Aladja Community, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State. The suspect was apprehended by some Aladja Community youths who were returning from vigil in the early hours of today. The armoured cable the suspect stole were to be used for the ongoing Operation Restore Aladja light by the Delta State Government. The suspect was caught by the youths allegedly in the act and was seriously beaten to a pulp. But for the quick intervention of Aladja Community Vigilante he would have been killed by an angry mob. The mob expressed their angry because for over two years, the Aladja Community has been in peppertual darkness until Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa deemed it fit to restore power in the area.

WARRI: POLICE SHOOT TEARGAS IN SCHOOL, TEN STUDENTS IN..

Some students of Ugborikoko secondary school in Uvwie L.G.A, Delta state were today rushed to the emergency ward of Capital Hill Hospital suffering from the effects of teargas allegedly shot into the school premises by the Nigerian police force . Confirming the incident, Dr. Efemena  said about ten students were rushed to the hospital around 10 am on Thursday said some have been resuscitated while others are still under critical care. It was gathered that some police officers were allegedly after some hoodlums within the immediate vicinity of the school, which unfortunately resulted in the use of teargas. The Delta state police command spokesman, DSP Andrew Aniamaka while confirming the report regretted the incident. He however said the teargas was not shot in their classroom. CEPEJ:LIBERIAN AMBASSADOR CALLS FOR PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE IN AFRICA.

The Liberian Ambassador to Nigeria, Prof Al-Hassan Conteh has called for peaceful co-existence in Africa in order to bring the desired rapid development. The ambassador Prof Al-Hassan Conteh who made the call at the just concluded conference, Organized by a non governmental organization, the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice - (CEPEJ) implored African leaders to do everything to key into the culture of adopting international best practices for nation's development. The 9th CEPEJ annual conference was held at Hon. Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Center, Minna Niger State with the theme; "Good Governance Panacea for Sustainable Development in Africa".
