DELTA STATE POLICE PRESS RELEASE: RE : POLICEMAN SHOOTS STUDENT OVER N1000.00
The Commissioner of Police, Delta Command, CP. Zanna M. Ibrahim, psc has Friday, 8 December, 2017, reaffirmed the Command’s readiness at all times to ensure fairness and justice in all its dealings with members of the public.
The CP noted that the reaffirmation became necessary against the backdrop of offensive insinuations and unwarranted concerns raised by one Afeez Hanafi in the Punch Newspapers of Thursday, December 7, 2017, pages 4&5 calling on the police authorities not to sweep “under the carpet” a case of attempted murder under investigation.
The CP reiterated that for the avoidance of doubt, the following steps were taken following the unfortunate alleged shooting incident, viz:
· The arrest of four members of the team for not preventing the escape of the culprit
· The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and the ASP who is the team leader were queried for lacking in supervision
· The sum of one hundred thousand naira was made available to enable immediate treatment of the victim and thus save life
· Investigation immediately commenced and photographs were taken by the police and other documentary evidence were attached to the case diary. Needless to state that Photographic evidence is admissible in evidence.
· The vehicle was released on bond to the driver who had insisted it be released to him for ‘local runnuing’.
The CP, while noting that, thanks to the efforts of the Command, the fleeing main culprit, F/No. 424188 Sgt. Sampson Abuo has been arrested, reassured the victims and their families and the general public that the Command, under his watch, has not done anything and will never do anything to scuttle the course of justice and fair play in this and in any other case.

POLICE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER,
