IPMAN CRISIS: Delta state Govt not involved, Attorney-General.

Image result for ipman nigeriaFollowing the election crisis rocking the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Warri Depot Unit between the Ben Jones faction (the incumbent Chairman) and the Zino faction accusing the state government involvement of the Union's election postponement as well as taking side with one of the factions, the Delta state government has distanced itself of the allegations and reiterated government's position. 


Briefing journalists in Asaba the state government on government's position on the issue, the state Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General,  Barr Peter Mrakpor who was accompanied by the state commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah said it was necessary to make government position's known because of different stories circulating on the issue, revealing that the State Government had no preferred candidate.  

The Attorney-General further reveals that one of the factions pulled out of the dialogue process while the second went to court, noting that the State Security Council met and decided that it was best to put the election on hold pending when the matters in court are resolved. 

He also added that the Attorney-General had been joined as a party in the suit saying it meant that the Attorney-General could no longer function as an arbiter in creating the enabling environment for the election to hold but would rather be busy filing papers for his defence.
