The agency warned that existing laws are outdated and do not reflect the evolving realities of substance misuse across the country. Established by Decree No. 48 of January 1990, the NDLEA is mandated to combat the cultivation, processing, trafficking, and sale of hard drugs. Rights Lawyer and former member of the All Progressive Congress APC, Robinson Ariyo says level of disorganization within the APC from the Delta State chapter to the National level is alarming. In an Interview in Warri ,Ariyo  said the party has not just disappointed Nigerians who voted it into power in 2015 but has also dragged the nation backwards. According to him in-house squabbles, back stabbing and mediocrity within the APC  especially in Delta state is frightening. While recounting his ordeal  during recent elections Ariyo, said some  top members of the party actively worked against him and denied him ticket to contest for a position, after collecting bribes. Ijaw and Itsekiri youths have set up a joint sensitization committee to carry out enlightenment campaign to communities that would be affected by the Escravos to Warri dredging.
