UN and Touching Lives International Lunch skills and financial Empowerment Scheme in Delta
As part of efforts to alleviate poverty in the sub Sahara Africa, the United Nations Development Program UNDP through Touching Lives Skill International has lunched its skill and financial empowerment program in Delta State.
Speaking during flagoff ceremony attended by over 500 participants on Friday in Warri, secretary general of the body Ms Blessing Linus said Touching lives is determined to empower individuals who ready to grow and charged Deltans to take the program serious as only successful participants will financed.
She also revealed that aside from the initial startup fund, additional financial and other assistance will be given to participants those who successfully starts there business.
On his part, Delta State co-ordinator of touching lives Barrister Greg Erumagborie expressed confidence that the initiative will positively impact the State, but warned that the program is only for the serious minded.
Meanwhile
Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission DESOPADEC who was represented by Bar. Showo Edema described the program as Laudable and charged participants not to see it as business as usual adding that DESOPADEC will seek for ways of keying into it with a view to bettering the lot of Deltans.
The Program had in attendance leaders of the Ijaw Youth Council IYC, Itsekiri National Youth Council INYC, Urohboh Youth Council as well as their Isoko and Ndokwa counterparts.
