Clean Environment: Deltans Must work with new LGA Chairmen- Akpojotor
Recent directive by governor Ifeanyi Okowa to newly elected Local Government Chairmen in Delta state to pay special attention to their environment is clear indication that the governor and commissioner for environment Barrister John Nani are fully committed to keeping the state clean.
The Member representing Delta central on the Waste Management Board, Sir Igho Akpojotor who made assertion on Sunday January 2st 2018, in Warri noted that level of cleanliness in the state has remarkably improved from what it used to be.
According to him fresh the directives will further take efforts to fully sanitize the state to grassroots.
Akpojotor while congratulating the new LGA chairmen noted that while the task will not be easy it is surmountable, through hard work and commitment.
He equally called on Deltans support the new chairmen, stressing that the task of keeping our environment clean is for everyone warning that "if we leave it for the chairmen alone when it results to an epidemic it will affect everybody.
The board member again warned against indiscriminate dumping of waste along major roads as it remaind a punishable offense, and reiterated the need to use private waste collectors to dispose dirts, as the cover has acquired more dumpsites.

" From Asaba to Warri and through major cities in the state you will see sweepers who sweep the major roads, and this has greatly improved cleanliness, things are no longer as they used to be and we sincerely appreciate the efforts of the governor and the commissioner in this regards. "
