Delta state Gov Flags Off Widows Welfare Scheme

Delta State Governor Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa on Tuesday  in Asaba  flagged off the Delta State Social Welfare Scheme for Widows with over 5500 widows benefitting and a promise that no deltan would be left out in the prosperity  for All Deltans agenda. Speaking at the eventful ceremony, Senator Okowa who was represented by the commissioner for health, Dr. Nicholas Azinge said that the scheme would take care of the financial and health needs of the widows in the state as only a healthy people can contribute to the wealth and development of the state. “Today we are here to witness another milestone in the health care system in the state , the welfare  scheme which is designed for selected widows in the state, is meant to pay  them a monthly stipend of 5,000 naira and enrol them into the state contributory health insurance scheme to cater for all their health needs. (Watch video) Following recent increase in the price of petrol,motorists and residents of Warri and environs have been subjected to untold hardship by the operators of Matrix Petrol Station Airport road Warri, as they have refused to help in controlling the long queues that  disrupt traffic by blocking two lanes of the airport road on daily basis. For over five weeks activities at the filling station has continuously shut  one part of the road, thus forcing road users to squeeze into the opposite lane. While Management of the station has so far done well in dispensing fuel at the approved rate of 145/per liter, the time has come for it to be responsible for controlling the huge turnout of customers on daily basis. The Delta state government must also ensure that situations like this in all part of the state.

2019 ELECTIONS: Okowa Calls For PDP Commitment

Okowa: Delta will not donate land for cattle colonies

Following the calls for the establishment of Cattle Colonies across the Country by the Federal Government and with the full support of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), the Delta state government has said it will not donate.   Chief Press Secretary to the Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Mr. Charles Aniagwu who disclosed this during a media interaction with members of the Indigenous Correspondents Chapel (ICC) of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, maintained that the State will not cede even a plot of land for the purpose of creating Cattle Colony. He urged all parties interested in cattle business to go purchase lands to run their business.

It has emerged that Chief Ayiri Emami the Ologbotsere (Prime Minister) of Warri Kingdom REPORTEDLY  received and pocketed N800m advance payment for a contract to tackle the coastal erosion ravaging the entire shorelines of Aruoton, an Itsekiri community in Warri-South West LGA. On February 11, 2013, the Delta State Government (STB/10/T/60) awarded  the contract for the construction of Shoreline Protection Measures (Phase 1) at Aruoton community to  Emami’s company, EasyQuest Nigeria Limited at a total sum of N1,694,211,750.00 (one billion, six hundred and ninety-four million, two hundred and eleven thousand, seven hundred and fifty naira).  The company was mobilised with the sum of N800m (eight hundred million naira) as per the terms of the contract. Delta state government: NO AMOUNT OF FORCE CAN FULLY PROTECT OIL FACILITIES

The Delta state Advocacy Committee against Vandalism  of Oil and Gas Facilities led by the Deputy Governor, Kingsley Otuaro, says no amount of force or deployment of military apparatus can fully secure oil and gas facilities as much as the host communities. In a communique issued on Monday  at the government house annex Warri,following a two day conference in Ogulagha town, in Burutu LGA, the committee emphasized the need for collaboration between stakeholders. The committee also advocated for the acquisition of modern fish farming equipments for locals by multinational companies, the adoption of bio-re-mediation for the environment, employment of qualified youths from the area by oil companies as well as the relocation of the headquarters of oil companies back to their areas of operation... 

SHAME: How PDP youth leader in Delta sold 2.5m starter pack and traveled to Lybia

A Peoples Democratic Party youth leader in Delta state  Chuks  Odiase was among some of the Nigerians who were this week evacuated from Lybia by the Federal government. Mr. Odiase reportedly sold an empowerment starter pack  worth 2.5 million and journeyed to Lybia from were he hoped to cross Europe through the Mediterranean. He was however caught and enslaved by some Arabs for 2years  before his recent rescue by the federal government.

He added that recent economic downturn and attacks on major oil and gas installations has negatively impacted the State's finance. Following the conclusions of the last Saturday's Local government election, the Delta State independent Electoral Commission has declared Ramson Tega Onoyake winner of the Uvwie local council chairmanship  position . Onoyake gathered a total of 103, 308 votes as against the 593 votes that was scored by his All Progressive Congress APC counterpart. DELTA LGA POLLS: NO ELECTION IN OPOROZA WARD 15 - YABRADE

Violence on Saturday prevented voting in Oporoza ward 15 in Warri South West L.G.A during the Delta state Local government elections. Moses Yabrade an All Progressives Congress APC executive official in the ward told TheLivePen that trouble started when officials of the Delta state Independent Electoral Commission DISIEC allegedly refused to display the plain result sheet, after meeting with Peoples Democratic Party PDP top brass in the area. According to him the refusal to display the result sheet led to clashes between APC and PDP supporters resulting in destruction of some sensitive voting materials while PDP members allegedly absconded with other materials. Mr. Yabrade maintained that no Election took in the Ward as a result of the violence.

SAIPEM CAMP FIRE: PPMC Warri has NO fire fighting truck.

Following the fire incident at Saipem Camp, It has emerged that  Pipeline Product Marketing Company PPMC Warri, has no truck for its fire fighters. Some individuals who lost their valuables in the incident claimed that when PPMC which is opposite the Saipem camp was called for assistance, but officials reportedly said they had no fire truck. Other companies close to the Saipem Camp include WRPC and Daewoo.

HORROR: Kidnapers Drink Victim's Blood

16 Suspected kidnappers, along the Abuja-Kaduna road have confessed to drinking blood of victims who cannot afford ransom. The kidnappers who were paraded by the Nigerian police on Tuesday in Abuja claimed that drinking of victim's blood is the last resort if all effort to get ransom fails. They confessed to killing of over ten people. Speaking to newsmen Nigeria police spokesperson Jimoh Moshood, said the suspects will soon be charged to court.

Delta LGA Elections: NO MOVEMENT- POLICE

In view of the forthcoming Local Government Council elections billed to take place in Delta State on Saturday, 6 th  January, 2018, the outgoing Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Zanna M. Ibrahim,  psc  has ordered the restriction of vehicular movements in Delta State from  6am -3pm  on the Electi on Day.  The CP who gave the order, Tuesday, 2 nd  January, 2018, noted that only those on official and emergency duties with valid means of identification as well as the electorates with permanent voters’ cards, going to their registered polling units to cast their votes, will be allowed passage during the restriction order.
