Authorities of Uvwie Local Government have exempted Churches in the Uvwie from paying community development levy popularly referred to as deve. Chairman of the Local Government, Ramson Onoyake in  release on Monday warned all youths in Uvwie never to harass any church in the area as his administration will unleash the full wrath of the law on anyone found culpable. He equally called on church leaders to report any harassment to his office. Following the successful completion of the Ugbomro and Okatata road,youths from the communities have hailed governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Hon. Evelyn Oboro for the  successful completion of the project. Speaking during their thanksgiving service on Sunday ,newly re-elected president of the Ugbomoro and Okatata youths Mr. Solomon Okodaso disclosed that youths of the Communities never harassed or demand any money for the construction firm. While promising to always work with the state and the Uvwie local government authorities to attract more projects and ensure security of lives and property ,he advised youths in the state to avoid driving away development from their area through unnecessary demands. Meanwhile A  People's Democratic Party PDP chieftain in Delta Central sir Igho Akpojotor on Sunday hailed Mr. Okodeso and his team describing their disposition as the beginning of a new Delta.

Opposition parties in Delta have urged to key into the smart agenda of the Okowa led Administration as there is no vacancy at the state government House in Asaba come 2019. Experts say the continued use of non degradable materials like polythene bags and plastic bottles remains a major reason for continued dirt’s in the environment. In an interview in Warri, the member representing Delta Central on the Delta state waste management board, Igho Akpojotor averred that there is need for production companies to switch to decomposable materials for their wraps and bottles. Such materials he said constitutes majority of blockages to water channels which often leads flooding in various parts of the country. According to him Nigeria as a nation missed the mark earlier by not making  provisions  for the disposal of nondecomposable materials. SANITATION: Akpojotor hails Delta Central LGA Chairmen, Blast residents of Ugborikoko,Kolokolo others

The Delta state Waste Management Board DWMB, in Delta central, led by Sir Igho Akpojotor has reiterated determination to work with the Uvwie local government Area authorities and other LGAs to ensure clean and healthy Delta Central. WATCH AKPOJOTOR SPEAK. Speaking in Udu, Akpojotor commended  LGA  chairmen in Delta Central for their efforts so far and urged them to help build sanitation consciousness into the people. He meanwhile warned residents of Ugborikoko,kolokolo,Atamakolomi,Ukwokoko and some part of Osubi who are creating illegal dumpsites that the task force of the Waste management board will storm their area any moment and culprits will be dealt with accordance with the law. Akpojotor equally frowned at the disposal of dirt into the river behind Effrrun Market  as well other coastal communities and promised to take steps that ensure presence of PSP waste collectors in such communities.

The Association of professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN) Delta state Chapter has called for a ,"conference of Delta state People" where Deltans will sit down and discuss issues affecting them and how to resolve them. Speaking to newsmen at the end of the APBN Board of Directors (BOD) Meeting held at the NIS Secretariat in Effurun, Delta state at the weekend, State chairman of APBN ,John O Alkpokpo Martins Esq said the body is no longer comfortable with issues of double taxation and extortion in the state,which has worsened the ease of doing business. One of Delta State prominent Monarchs, Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, Orhue 1 has challenged members of the Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ to replicate their professional expertise in conflict resolution in Okpe communities, expressing happiness at the choice of establishing the NGO’s permanent site in Ugolo-Okpe. Ahead of Nigeria's 2019 general elections  the tricycle and motor cycle operators in Delta state have been advised to go register and get their Permanent Voters Card PVC. Speaking during an interview in Udu local government area, spokesperson of the Tricycle and motor cycle operators union in Delta state, Mr.Ochuko Johnson said it was wrong for members of the union and indeed Nigerians to assume that their votes will not count in the electoral process. According to him the only way to bring about change of government is to first get the PVC, which will enable one to vote. On the continued operations of another union in the state. Following the the commissioning of the Premium Steel Company rolling mill, the member representing Delta Central on the Delta state waste management board, Sir Igho Akpojotor has described Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as a developer. Speaking after the commissioning Akpojotor said Governor Okowa worked tirelessly withthe Assets Management Company AMCON as well as the ministry of mines and steel to ensure revival of the plant. While reechoing the peaceful disposition of the Udu people towards investors he urged the company to heed the advise of the governor and ensure the host communities get what is due to them. Akpojotor equally hailed the development strides of the governor in view of the massive construction going on across the stat's three senatorial districts.

CEPEJ: NIGERIAN GOVT MUST RETRAIN SECURITY OUTFITS ON ENVIRONMENT

Environmental stakeholders in the Niger Delta region have called for retraining and capacity enhancement of security agents  involved in the fight against illegal refining of stolen crude oil in the region. Following a round table discussion of all security agencies in Nigeria facilitated by the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice CEPEJ, the forum  led by  Key note speaker and former national secretary of the Nigerian Environmental society of Nigeria NIS, Akporoworoh FNES , noted that current practice of destroying  the illegal refineries and spilling the products into the environment was no longer acceptable. The forum noted that there was need to train security agents on how to recover stolen crude,safe guard it and hand it over to a designated government agency that will take it into custody and ensure proper handling.
