Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja Crisis: Okowa must take a stand, else - Activist (News+Video)

Environmental activist, Sheriff Mulade has tasked the Delta state government to stop playing playing politics with the Aladja and Ogbe-ijoh crisis playing out in Warri-South west local government area. Mulade, who made the call during an interview with TheLivePen in Effurun, urged Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to save lives by taking a bold step to end the dispute between the two communities. While commending efforts of security operatives in keeping the peace he described a recent press release by some leaders of Aladja calling For relocation of the LGA headquarters to Ogidigben as unnecessary. He further warned that the crisis, if left unchecked could end up engulfing the entire peace of the state.

NNPC WARRI DOPOT DISTRIBUTE 1.7 M LITRES OF FUEL-- DOMBRAYE

Uvwie violence: Reason for latest fracas

Sources say the renewed violence in Effrun ,Uvwie local government area, Delta state, is down to an unresolved dispute between an executive member of the Uvwie Youth Deciplinary Committee and an influential youth in the area. A source told THE LIVE PEN that the said deciplinary committee member recently used his position to manhandle the youth, inflicting life threatening injuries on him. It was gathered the aggrieved youth then moblised his friends who on Wednesday stormed the Alaka axis of Effrrun in search of the deciplinary committee member, shooting sporadically into the air, they repeated the same on Thursday evening and Friday afternoon respectively. The aggrived youths reportedly had a shootout with a police during their Friday operation which  resulted in looting of several shops as well as dispossing innocent citizens of their valuables. Fuel scarcity: 1.2 million liters lifted from Warri Depot- Dombraye

About 1.2million litters of petrol  was on thursday the of  28th December 2017, lifted from the Warri depot by filling stations in Warri Effrun and environs. Executive Assistant to governor ifeanyi Okowa on security matters Hon. Dombraye Riginald Moro who monitored the process again warned marketers against diverting or selling above price. Armed robbers kill Armed robber in Warri.

Karma today caught up with some armed robbers in Effrun, Uvwie Local Government, Delta state after the bandits who were operating in a Toyota Camry accidentally killed their Driver leading to a ghastly accident. Reports say a member of the armed Gang sitting behind the driver seat accidentally discharged his weapon after their driver reportedly applied the brakes along Airport Road close to Deputy Governor Kingsly Otuaro's residence. It was gathered three of the robbers reportedly escaped from the scene leaving behind their dead colleague. Meanwhile a police officer at the scene prevented source from taking close-up photograph at the scene.

Fuel Scarcity: Stop hurting Nigerians- Akpojotor

F ollowing continued scarcity of petroleum motor spirit PMS or fuel across the country, the member representing Delta Central on the state Waste Management Board Sir Igho Akpojotor has blasted some greedy stakeholders in the oil sector for bringing hardship on the populace. Speaking on Sunday in Warri, Sir Akpojotor said some of the stakeholders have made it a habit to create scarcity during festive periods in other to make more money, this is even as he decried the sales of fuel at filling stations for #170 in Ughelli and other parts of Delta state. While admitting that there were contentious issues between them and  the government, He asserted  that the action of the oil sector stakeholders was in the interest of Nigerians. Akpojotor therefore  urged them to work with government and resolve whatever difference they have.

NIGER DELTA:FG must stop patronising violence - Mulade (text+video)

The federal government must stop patronizing violence to further improve existing peace in the Niger Delta region. In an exclusive interview with THE LIVE PEN, National Co-coordinator of African Center for Peace and Environmental Justice CEPEJ comrade Sheriff Mulade decried government’s reactive approach to issues in the Niger Delta. He asserted that Government must forge a solid bond with leadership of the region under the auspices of PANDEF to successfully address re-occurring contentious issues in the region. Mulade equally urged PANDEF members to desist from acts that will portray the body as individualistic.

The Governors who spoke  after a closed door meeting with the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps [FRSC], Mr. Olayemi Boboye yesterday [ 12-12-17 ] in Asaba said that they met to look at ways to ensure free movement of traffic especially on and around the Niger Bridge during the yuletide period. National Coordinator of Center of Peace and Environment Justice CEPEJ, Comrade Sheriff Mulade has warned Nigerians to be cautious in handling fire, particularly during the harmattan period to avoid fire outbreaks that can easily spread and destroy lives and property. Speaking to newsmen in Warri Comrade Mulade  noted that fire outbreaks in Nigeria have become a source of concern stressing that Nigerians need to be conscious during the Yuletide period. He further explained that every season comes with its own challenges and  therefore called for the collective responsibility of every one to adapt to the changes in the weather condition and promote safety during the harmattan season. He charged government at all levels to take proactive steps towards reducing fire outbreaks.
