UVWIE L.G.A CHAIRMAN BLOWS HOT, SAYS NEXT SANITATION WILL BE TOUGH

Chairman  of Uvwie Local Government Area Ramson Onoyake has warned  residents of the  council that their attitude  towards the  monthly sanitation must improve as the next  exercise will be strictly  implemented.  (Watch Onoyake in action)  Speaking while inspecting level of compliance in the LG A last Saturday, Onoyake observed that  while  some individuals complied so many others  did not.  He revealed that  during the next sanitation  a mobile will be on ground try offenders adding that   efforts  have been stepped up to deal with illegal  waste collectors popularly  called  wheelbarrow boys.  Onoyake in the  meantime has setup a task force to arrest  residents around Jakpa Junction who dispose their physics  and other sewage waste along the road. 

DELSU STUDENTS HAVE TO LEARN A SKILL-OKOWA

Speaking at the 4th edition of the students’ sensitization programme, ‘Even A Professor Needs A Skill’, organised by two of his aides Ovie Success Ossai and Ezekiel Okoh in Abraka, Governor Okowa stressed that having a certificate on its own may not guarantee today’s university graduates the elusive white collar job, stating that youths today need entrepreneurial and technical skills to become self-employed and job creators. Dr. Okowa, represented by his chief of staff, Hon. Tam Birisbe, noted that the essence of the programme was to prepare undergraduates in the state to acquire additional skills relevant for their survival in the society and making them enterpreneurs and job creators as they graduate from school rather than wait endless for white collar jobs. UPDATED fire destroy's equipments at Christ Embassy Zonal HQ Warri, Delta State.

A fire inferno on Tuesday  destroyed  equipments  worth millions of Naira at Christ Embassy zonal headquarters Airport  road  church one,  Warri/Effrun Delta State. The fire was said to have started  from  one of the  church's  studios  which has not been in use for sometime. The inferno which was said to have started around 11:8am from an air conditioner that  malfunctioned was fuelled by  materials  used  to construct  the interior of the  studio. Men of the Delta State command  fire service  official  arrived  the scene and helped some locals  around the  vicinity  who were  already  dealing  with  the  situation  to bring  the fire under  control at about  12pm   

BEDC WORKER ELECTROCUTED IN WARRI.

A young Benin Electricity Distribution Company BEDC worker was on Tuesday electrocuted while trying to fix a fault on an electric pole wire along Odibo Street in Warri Delta state. The middle aged BEDC worker according to reports climbed the pole without his hand gloves and other protective gears. He was reportedly fixing the faulty wire following power outage when power suddenly returned, resulting to a huge spark which flung him to the ground. It was gathered the victim was left almost lifeless following the incident and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Sources say some BEDC officials who visited the scene refused to comment on the incident, instead they folded the faulty wire hung it on another pole before driving away.

Peter Nwaoboshi pass out in court, remanded in prison.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator from Delta state,  Peter Nwaoboshi on Wednesday reportedly passed out  before  a  federal high court sitting in Lagos ordered he be remanded  in Ikoyi prison, Lagos. The remand order follows the arraignment of the senator by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of fraud. The EFCC arraigned Nwaoboshi over an alleged N805 million fraud. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Senator Dino Melaye has today been re-arrested from an Abuja hospital by the Nigerian Police and will be tried without any delay. Police confirmed an earlier report that Melaye , escaped from lawful custody earlier when ‘miscreants and hoodlums’ blocked a  police vehicle conveying him to Lokoja to face trial. “In the process the Senator jumped out of the Police vehicle through the window. The Police team reinforced and trailed Senator Dino Melaye to Zankli Hospital, Abuja where he was re-arrested.

A man who followed the ambulance that conveyed senator Dino Negate t to the hospital said he witnessed the “drama” leading to the injury. Addressing journalists at the hospital, the man simply identified as Peter said: “I was there at Area 1 when the police vehicle stopped somewhere and amid the confusion, there were shouts of ‘shoot him, shoot him’. “He has been saying it that they want to take his life and we can see that now. Yesterday, about 200 policemen were in house.  They were there till this morning. When he came out, he told them ‘okay, I’m going to go with you people to the police station.’ That he is not a criminal and that they don’t even have any arrest warrant on him. But he followed them. “It was later this afternoon, while he was being taken to court, around that Area 1, the crowd had gathered and the police officers were there with him. The CAN boss “Lawyers have been speaking that the issue of self defence is constitutional, and also in commonsense which may not be common, because if you see somebody coming with dangerous weapon to kill you and you say it is not constitutional to defend yourself, then you must be ready to lose your life. “It is commonsense that you defend yourself from danger that is coming, but if you think it is not good to defend yourself, good luck.

Environmental Laws :Court sentences 10 in Delta.

The Delta State  waste Management Board in Delta  Central  at the  weekend  arrested  over ten environmental  law defaulters and had them  tried at a mobile  court in Enerehn,Uvwie local government  area, Delta State.  The  defaulters  were  arrested  after  repeatedly  failing to  obey warnings by the board's taskforce. Delta Ijaw HOSTCOM youth wing elects new leadership

BREAKING: NIGERIA SENATE HIJACKED BY HOODLUMS

For the first time in the history of the fourth republic, the Nigerian senate experienced hooliganism in the first degree as the Senate mace got seized by hoodlums who stormed the Senate and seized the symbol of authority. The senate meanwhile  resumed sitting, shortly after the mace, its symbol of authority, was stolen. The upper legislative chamber replaced the mace with another one, said to be a “spare”. It is not yet clear where the mace in the chambers had been brought from. The senators are not supposed to sit without the mace, according to its standing rules. Ovie Omo-Agege, senator from Delta state, had stormed the senate with some unidentified persons and carted away the mace, the symbol of authority. Ike Ekweremadu, depute senate president, who is presiding over the session, said the senators “are not going to be intimidated”.

     Audio recording The Delta state Commissioner for Higher Education, Mr Jude Sinebe has given reasons for the recent disengagement of the registrar and bursar of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku. The Commissioner who told the press at the ongoing ministerial press briefing on the activities and achievements of his ministry held at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Information, Asaba, said that the subversion of due process in the employment of staff for the polytechnic by the affected officers was responsible for their disengagement. He explained that the affected officers were asked to resign also forfeit all their retirement entitlements, saying the measure was to guide against impunity and deter others from carrying their job without observing due process. Member representing Delta Central on the Delta state waste management board Sir Igho Akpojotor in a chat with news men in Warri decried her return of the sign posts   which constantly defaces the environment. He equally called on event organizers and churches to endeavor to remove their banners place at strategic position after such programs. EASTER DAY TRAGEDY:Eight feared as car plung into Agbaho River

A utility transport  vehicle coming into Warri during the early hours of April 1st ie Easter Sunday has plunged into the Agbaho river reportedly killing the driver and other occupants. Sources at the scene of the incident say the Vehicle may have lost control as it reportedly bashed through the side barriers on the Agbaho bridge. Number of casualties is still unknown, however sources say it could be more than eight.
